Meet Dr. Carl Johnsey

Founder & Lead Optometrist

Dr. Carl Johnsey isn’t just an experienced optometrist; he’s a local through and through. Growing up in a small town near Cartersville and attending Berry College in Rome, his roots in Georgia run deep. This connection to the community is the foundation of Quality Eye Care, which he founded to provide families in Lawrenceville, Duluth, and Suwanee with the kind of dedicated, personal eye care they deserve.

His journey in optometry began after college when he joined the Army ROTC and went on to earn his doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Dr. Johnsey then proudly served as an Army optometrist from 1989 to 1996. During this distinguished service, he was the Division Optometrist for the renowned 10th Mountain Infantry Division and later cared for soldiers at Fort McPherson right here in College Park.

After his military service, Dr. Johnsey gained valuable experience working in diverse settings, including Costco and Target, before realizing his ultimate goal: opening his own private practice. This diverse background gives him a unique perspective on providing efficient, high-quality care without losing the personal touch.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Johnsey enjoys staying active, spending time on Lake Lanier, and pursuing his hobbies as a "car guy" and a new enthusiast of Japanese Maple gardening.
