About Us

Meet Dr. Carl Johnsey

Founder & Lead Optometrist

Dr. Carl Johnsey grew up in a small town near Cartersville, GA and attended nearby Berry College in Rome, GA. While in college he joined Army ROTC. He next attended the closest optometry school in Birmingham, AL. Since he had joined ROTC he then served as an Army optometrist from 1989 through 1996. His first assignment was as the Division Optometrist for the 10th Mountain Infantry Division in upstate New York. That was during Desert Storm, but the 10th Mountain did not deploy so Dr. Johnsey mainly had to check soldiers in preparation for deployment. Next he worked in the health clinic at the Fort McPherson in College Park (Tyler Perry studios are there now). After the military Dr. Johnsey mainly worked at Costco and Target before opening Quality Eyecare. He's always moderately worked out and also enjoys Lake Lanier and he is a "car guy" and is recently enjoying Japanese Maple type gardening.

Dr. Johnsey will personally examine your infant or your 90-year-old great-grandparent.

Melissa Revels grew up with her five sisters in Birmingham, AL. She began her career in the optical industry in 1982, following her attendance at the University of Alabama. Melissa loves exotic vacations (Morocco for camel riding or South Africa to see penguins) and is a huge “Bama” fan.

Ambar Savignon is new to the optical industry (Fall 2024). She was getting her eyes checked and was convinced to work for Quality Eyecare for her outstanding Spanish interpreting skills. She’s a Central High in Lawrenceville grad, but her family is Dominican. Ambar usually works Tuesday-Saturday if you need an interpreter.

Salisa Whitmire grew up in Chamblee, GA, and started in the optical industry in 1995 after attending Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, GA. Salisa took an eleven-year gap from work to raise her three sons and came back to the industry at Dr. Johnsey’s urging when he opened Quality Eyecare. Salisa is a huge Georgia Bulldog fan.
